HR Generalist

8:00am - 6:00pm Monday through Thursday

 

Responsibilities

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The HR Generalist will be required to have a broad knowledge of all aspects of human resources to include labor and employment laws, compensation and recruiting, with a strong emphasis on benefits and FMLA. They will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of our employee benefit programs.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, coordinate, assess, and manage benefit plans and retirement programs
  • Research compensation, and benefit plans to ensure the ministry offerings are current, cost effective, and competitive
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and collaborate with outside partners, such as benefit vendors, insurance brokers, and investment managers
  • Act as liaison between insurance/retirement companies and team members in resolving claim problems, issues and contract compliance; ensuring that individuals have a clear understanding of benefit coverage, claims processing, explanation of benefits forms, etc.
  • Coordinates benefits and retirement orientation meetings, and conducts annual open enrollment
  • Interacts with all levels of management and uses wisdom and discretion in dealing with confidential information
  • Work with our third-party vendor to manage FMLA claims; coordinate FMLA and ADA with employee and manager
  • Prepares and audit all insurance billings
  • Research, understand, and train leadership on HR Laws including FMLA, ADA and HIPAA
  • Assist in the Implementation and management of human resources programs including, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, succession planning, and employee relations
  • Ensure Compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in the Employee Benefits field preferred 

Skills/Abilities:

    • Have knowledge and a good understanding of employee insurance and retirement programs
    • Strong public speaking and communication skills
    • Must be highly organized and require limited supervision.
    • Have understanding of FMLA, ADA, & HIPAA.
    • Knowledgeable in all aspects of HR law.
    • Must be highly confidential
    • Must be proficient with Windows-based PC applications, including MS Excel and MS Word. Must have working experience in Outlook
    • Type 55wpm.

  • Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension, difficulties and divisions
  • Must maintain a good attendance record

 

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

  • Computer, fax machine, telephone, calculator, copier, scanner

  

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to sit at a computer for a minimum of seven hours per day.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

  • Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.
