HR Manager

Human Resources

8:00am - 6:00pm Monday through Thursday

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The human resource manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function.  This position will provide management and oversight in the areas of compensation, employee relations, training and development, benefits, recruiting, and other general HR functions. The HR Manager is also responsible to provide guidance to management and executive staff in sustaining sound human resource practices to assure the effective selection, development, motivation and compensation of all staff in addition to ensuring compliance with state & federal laws & regulations.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, organizes and oversees all activities of the HR department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures
  • Prepares and maintains company handbook on policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws in all areas of Human Resources
  • Maintains budgets for HR, Recruiting, Benefits and Training
  • Oversees recruitment, staffing and on-boarding activities of the organization.
  • Manages the compensation program for the ministry; establishing the company wage and salary structure and pay policies; ensuring legal and equitable pay practices
  • Leads competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff
  • Oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises
  • Reviews all pay increases, bonuses, promotions and transfers
  • Develops, oversees, and facilitates service awards, acts of appreciation, and retirements
  • Oversees company benefits programs
  • Provides guidance and assistance on such matters as employee benefits, performance appraisals, grievance and appeals, EEO, and employee conduct and discipline
  • Coaches and trains managers in their communication and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them
  • Consults with legal counsel on personnel related legal matters
  • Performs terminations and conducts exit interviews
  • Plans, coordinates and directs personnel training and staff development programs for the ministry
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position manages all employees of the Human Resources department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Qualifications

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development; equivalent work experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • 5 to 7 years previous experience performing human resources management, compensation analysis, and benefits administration.
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred but not required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALITIES:

 

 

  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, employee engagement, and employee development
  • Better than average written and spoken communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR department staff members
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the executive management team that provides overall company leadership and direction
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources recognition and engagement programs and processes
  • Evidence of the ability to practice and coach organization managers in the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational management skills

 

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to sit at a computer for a minimum of nine hours per day.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephone and other office equipment.
